[circa 1790] In-8, marbled brown calfskin, ribbed spine, panels decorated with small gilt ironwork, red leather title label, blind-stamped fillet framing the covers, gilt fillet on the edges, guilloché end caps, yellow edges. In this political essay, Edmund Burke (1729–1797), a liberal member of Parliament and one of the leading figures of the Whig Party, offers a critique of the French Revolution. His analysis, which proved accurate in light of subsequent events, has ensured him a certain degree of posterity. Mr. Thomas, parish priest of Mormant, deputy to the National Assembly.” A fine copy.
