STENDHAL. Walks in Rome. - Lot 298
STENDHAL. Walks in Rome. Paris, Michel Lévy, 1873. 2 in-12 volumes, each bound in off-white vellum, with a smooth spine decorated with triple gilt lines and a double gilt line framing the covers; red edges. 369 and 379 pp. Small stain on the front cover of the first volume; some foxing. Edition “expanded with prefaces and entirely unpublished fragments.” In this travelogue, Rome is viewed through the lens of Stendhal’s personality, emotions, and memories, in which he displays a noticeable degree of egotism. Library stamp in blue ink: “la Collina.” In good condition, well bound.
