BAUDELAIRE, Charles. *Les Fleurs du mal*, *La Revue des Deux - Lot 33
BAUDELAIRE, Charles. *Les Fleurs du mal*, *La Revue des Deux Mondes*. 25th year. Volume 10. Issue 5. The famous pre-original edition of *Les Fleurs du mal*, in perfect condition. Paris, Office of the *Revue des Deux Mondes*, June 1, 1855. Large 8vo (245 x 170 mm), Bradel-style binding, full navy blue cloth, smooth spine adorned with a floral motif and the title in gold lettering. 1,336 pp. Minor handling marks on the endpapers; one corner is slightly worn. Famous issue of the journal in which Baudelaire published 18 poems from *Les Fleurs du Mal*, two years before the collection’s publication, with its definitive title appearing here for the first time. This publication is preceded by the publisher’s famous warning note, in which he cautiously attempts to justify the “violence” and aesthetic novelty of these verses to his subscribers. A very fine copy in excellent condition.
