BAZIN, Hervé. *La Mort du petit cheval*. - Lot 34
BAZIN, Hervé. *La Mort du petit cheval*. First edition in pure-thread vellum, featuring a beautiful autographed dedication to André Maurois. Paris, Grasset, 1950. In-12, pine-green half-maroquin with corner pieces, spine featuring two broad faux raised bands highlighted by a gold fillet and adorned at the top and bottom with five vertical gold fillets, gilt head, covers and spine intact. Binding signed V. Gringhaud. 316 pp. Minimal signs of wear, spine very slightly sun-faded. First edition of this autobiographically inspired novel, which follows the famous *Vipère au poing*. One of 132 numbered copies on pure-thread vellum (No. IX), this one enhanced by a beautiful autographed dedication to André Maurois: “In respectful—and above all affectionate—homage, this *MORT DU PETIT CHEVAL*, which does not come close to *Climats* but seeks to capture its spirit.” And he adds: “This personal copy to ward off a misfortune from the press office.” Ex-libris by Simone André Maurois. A fine copy in a binding signed by Gringhaud.
