[AERONAUTICS - PHOTOGRAPHY]. Set of 3 photographs of the Voi - Lot 2
[AERONAUTICS - PHOTOGRAPHY]. Set of 3 photographs of the Voisin “Octavie No. 3” biplane. Circa 1910. A rare set of three early 20th-century photographs showing ground and in-flight views of the Voisin “Octavie No. 3” biplane, the favorite aircraft of French aviation pioneer Louis Paulhan. 3 prints (165 x 115 mm and 180 x 130 mm), circa 1910. Fold mark on one print; handwritten pencil annotations on the back of two prints. The set includes: - A side view of the Voisin brothers’ biplane named “Octavie No. 3” (a label visible on the rear cellular fin: “L’Aviation” and “OCTAVIE No. 3”), which the famous aviator Louis Paulhan (1883–1963) had made his favorite aircraft. - A panoramic view in front of the Voisin factory hangars located at 54 Quai du Point-du-Jour (Issy-les-Moulineaux / Billancourt), amidst a crowd of onlookers, curious passersby, and enthusiasts of the Belle Époque. - A striking view of the “Octavie No. 3” biplane captured in mid-flight by the photographer. In excellent condition.
